From sketch to community feedback sessions, this piece came to life over the course of a year with accessibility in mind.

This piece, commissioned by the city is called "In Tending" and is meant to reflect a joyful, restful mood.

 

There are many notes of inspiration within the piece...

• local flora for families to identify: oak leaf hydrangea, black-eyed susan, coral honeysuckles, and more

• repetition of the shape of a lung and symmetrical mirroring to match the xylophone in the playground

• colors to mirror various tonal changes of the new accessible playground design and material

• soft textures to fill the line of the minimized shapes

• a nod to caregivers who may have disability or a child with a disability
